FAQ

How does Kortex™ work?

Kortex™ works by comfortably stimulating the brain to produce serotonin, endorphins and melatonin while lowering the stress hormone cortisol, as demonstrated in published studies. A 60-subject study also demonstrated improved focus and concentration after low dose alternating current stimulation, and a 2012 study determined that low dose alternating current modulates the brain's Default Mode Network (DMN). What's the difference between Kortex™ and the Fisher Wallace Stimulator™?

Kortex™ and the Fisher Wallace Stimulator™ are identical technologically.

Kortex™ is defined as a general wellness device because it is intended to help people manage stress and sleep.

What does the stimulation feel like?

Most users will not feel the stimulation, while some may feel a mild tingling at the sponge electrode sites. Users typically feel more relaxed after the first 10 minutes of stimulation, as a result of neurotransmitter production.

How long is the battery life?

Kortex™ is powered by two AA batteries which typically last for six months of daily usage.

Will Kortex™ still work if I have long or thick hair?

Yes. Kortex™ uses cellulose sponge electrodes moistened with tap water, and as long as there is moisture between the electrodes and the scalp, conductivity will occur comfortably.

Do I need to replace the electrode sponges?

If you use the device daily, you should replace the electrode sponges every two weeks for optimal performance. We will sell replacement sponges for a reasonable price, and provide an auto-ship option.

What can I do while wearing Kortex™?

You may engage in VR experiences such as Land's End (while seated in a swivel chair), or simply sit and relax, meditate, read a book, watch TV, play a video game, reply to emails or engage in other low key activities while using Kortex™.

Will Kortex™ help everyone who uses it?

Based on our scientific, clinical and market data, Kortex™ will help approximately 80% of daily users. Consistently using Kortex™ on a daily basis for the first 30 days is important to experience results; once you experience long-lasting benefit, Kortex™ may be used on a maintenance basis (3-4 times per week) or on an as-needed basis.

Are there any long-term negative effects?

Based on over 10 years of patient monitoring and reporting associated with the Fisher Wallace Stimulator™ (from which Kortex™ is technologically cloned), there are no long-term negative effects of using our technology.

How often should I use Kortex™?

We recommend using Kortex™ every day for the first 30 days. You may then continue on a daily basis, maintenance basis (3-4 times per week) or on an as-needed basis. There are no negative effects associated with abruptly ceasing its use.

How quickly could I experience results?

Most users will feel more relaxed after 10 minutes of stimulation and will experience durable results after the first two weeks of daily use.

Do I need to download an app to operate Kortex™?

No. Kortex™ is designed to be used without an app. However, we are developing a mobile and VR app for Kortex™ that will enhance the user experience, and will let you know when it's released.
